Denis Sova, a member of the Chisinau Municipal Council from Our Party, criticized the government's decision to charge Moldovan citizens 20% VAT and an additional fee for small parcels from abroad (worth up to 150 euros).

He wrote on his Facebook page that the new measures within the framework of fiscal policy will bring additional costs to citizens who order goods online."

According to the adviser, Moldova received about 12 million parcels and small shipments in 2025. Approximately 98% of them cost less than 150 euros, and the total volume of such purchases was estimated at 6 billion lei.

"Already in October, November and December of this year, you and I, those who receive these parcels, will pay an additional 300 million lei in VAT. Next year, this figure will be approximately 1.2 billion lei. In addition to VAT, it is proposed to introduce an additional fee of 12 lei for each parcel. With the current volume of shipments, this means another 120-140 million lei in additional payments," he estimates.

Sova believes that instead of searching for solutions within the state financial system, the authorities are once again shifting the burden on citizens.

"The government and the country's leadership, instead of being responsible for the loans they have accumulated and for the dubious policies they have been pursuing for the past five years, are once again reaching into the pockets of citizens. The holes in the budget that we pay for with these loans, which have been accumulated especially over the past five years, are being proposed to be closed, including through simple parcels," the oppositionist was outraged.
