The Our Party parliamentary faction has initiated a simple vote of no confidence in Finance Minister Andrian Gavrilită. Oleksandr Berlinsky, a member of parliament from the People's Party, announced this on social media, noting that the initiative is related to the draft Concept of Budget and Tax Policy for 2027.
At least 15 signatures from deputies are required to submit the initiative to parliament. Our Party has six mandates. Therefore, Berlinsky invited other opposition deputies to support the initiative.
In his opinion, the draft budget and tax policy was developed in a non-transparent manner, insufficient public consultations were conducted, and there was no real dialogue with the economic sectors that will face the consequences of the new tax measures.
"Instead of reducing ineffective government spending and improving the efficiency of budgetary funds, the Ministry of Finance is trying to plug the budget gap by raising taxes, fees, and excise duties, shifting this burden onto citizens and businesses. This approach risks damaging the economy, scaring away investors, pushing businesses to close, and leaving people without jobs," Berlinsky believes.
The Our Party faction points out that introducing an additional tax burden in a fragile economic environment could lead to reduced consumption, lower investment, business closures, and job losses. Meanwhile, "the Republic of Moldova needs measures that stimulate competitiveness and economic development, not decisions that increase tax pressure on the economy."
Through the vote of no confidence, Our Party demands that the Minister of Finance provide Parliament with clear explanations regarding the rationale for the reform, its economic and social impact, and the results of consultations held to date.
Furthermore, the faction demands the withdrawal and substantial revision of the draft fiscal policy for 2027, genuine consultations with all affected sectors, and the presentation of credible impact assessments before these measures are implemented.

"Our Party" is an extraparliamentary opposition political formation, positioning itself as a pro-Moldovan party advocating for a balanced foreign policy between East and West. We are convinced that for the Republic of Moldova today, the priority is not geopolitics, but solving the country's and its citizens' problems.
