Constantin Cuiumju, a member of the parliamentary faction of Our Party, reacted to another incident in the national army, as a result of which a conscript soldier received a gunshot wound during an exercise.
The parliamentarian wrote on social media on Wednesday that the incident was another link in a series of serious incidents in the army that have led to deaths and injuries of military personnel in recent years.
Cuiumju believes that the regularity of such cases indicates the presence of systemic problems in the military department.
"I think about families who send their sons to the army with the confidence that the state will protect them. This trust must be justified. The state is obliged to ensure conditions of safety and responsibility, and when tragedies occur, citizens deserve clear answers and concrete measures," the deputy believes.
He also criticized the Ministry of Defense for the security situation in the country's airspace.
Since 2022, more than 54 drones have flown or fallen over the territory of the Republic of Moldova, which have not been intercepted.
The MP accused Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii of lacking transparency in investigating incidents involving rocket and drone debris on Moldovan territory.
He again called for a deep reform of the national army, recalling that the faction had drafted a bill to abolish compulsory military service and transition to a contract army.
According to Cuiumju, the signatures of 34 deputies must be collected to register the initiative. Currently, according to the parliamentarian, the process of collecting signatures is at the final stage.
"Moldovan families send their sons to serve the motherland, not to return in a coffin. The time has come for responsibility, transparency, and concrete action. People are waiting for answers," Cuiumju concluded.

"Our Party" is an extraparliamentary opposition political formation, positioning itself as a pro-Moldovan party advocating for a balanced foreign policy between East and West. We are convinced that for the Republic of Moldova today, the priority is not geopolitics, but solving the country's and its citizens' problems.
