Alexandru Berlinschi, a member of the parliamentary commission on legal issues, appointments, and immunity, is calling on politicians to "allow the judiciary to function independently and not interfere in the judicial promotion process."
He made this statement on social media, recalling that "almost four years have passed since the start of the vetting and then pre-vetting procedures, which effectively paralyzed judicial proceedings."
"The system is facing a severe shortage of judges." "The actual shortage exceeds 37% in first-instance courts, 43% in appellate courts, and 50% of positions in the Supreme Court of Justice remain vacant," Berlinsky reported, citing data from the Superior Council of Magistracy.
According to him, "to mask the crisis, the highest courts are resorting to temporary transfers of judges from the regions." However, this practice "does not solve the problem, but merely redistributes it within the system."
"The result is obvious: court cases are being postponed, review times are increasing, the already colossal workload of serving judges is increasing, and citizens' access to justice is becoming increasingly difficult," the deputy said.
He also drew attention to political interference in judicial reform and called on government officials "to prevent politics from interfering in the justice system."

We are convinced that for the Republic of Moldova today, the priority is not geopolitics, but solving the country's and its citizens' problems.
