Constantin Cuiumju, a member of Parliament from Our Party, said that the formation respects the special legal status of Gagauz-Yeri and is ready to mediate a dialogue between the People's Assembly of Gagauzia, parliament and the government in order to help find solutions that take into account both the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova and the autonomous status of Gagauzia.".

He stated this the day before at a special meeting of the People’s Assembly dedicated to the upcoming elections to the legislative body of the autonomy.

Cuiumju stressed that "Our party has always consistently supported the special legal status of Gagauzia," whose autonomy is "an important element of the stability of the Republic of Moldova and a significant political achievement that has made it possible to preserve peace and dialogue in the country."

"Any initiatives of the central authorities concerning certain provisions of the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia should be discussed in the format of an open institutional dialogue between the Parliament, the Government and the National Assembly. For Our Party, "it is important to maintain respect for the autonomy of the region, stability and constructive cooperation between Chisinau and Comrat," concluded Cuiumju.
