Renato Usatii, chairman of Our Party, criticized the court's decision to change the preventive measure for Hasan Toper, the man accused of organizing the high-profile murder in Chisinau. According to Infotag, he wrote about this on social media and also delivered his criticism at a parliamentary session on Thursday evening.

Usatii stated that "changing the preventive measure in the case of a man accused of organizing a serious crime raises serious questions about the effectiveness of reforms in the judicial system."

"Good people, this is an outrageous case! "This extradition, which prosecutors, police officers, and a whole team of specialists worked on for a year, is now being transferred to house arrest," Usatii emphasized.

Turkish citizen Hasan Toper was extradited from the United Kingdom to the Republic of Moldova in 2025 to face criminal charges in the murder of Izzet Eren. The crime was committed on July 10, 2024: 41-year-old Eren, the leader of a group known as the "Tottenham Turks," was shot dead during the day on the terrace of a café on Kiev Street in Chisinau. British and Moldovan law enforcement agencies were searching for Toper as one of the alleged organizers of the murder. After being detained in the UK, he was extradited to Moldova, where he was placed under arrest. However, the Ciocana Court of Chisinau has now ordered Toper's release from prison and his transfer to house arrest, despite the high-profile nature of the case.
